Bintan is very close to the Equator. Hence, tropical climate is dominant all through the year with two distinct seasons. MetaMan is taking place during the dry southwest monsoon (which runs from June to October).
The island has an “insular character” with a constant temperature averaging at 26 °C. The temperatures reported vary between 21 °C and 32 °C. March to early November is the dry and the quiet season with clear sunny days. Humidity ranges from 61 to 96 percent.
Sea temperature is 29 °C all year around.
On race day the sunrise is at 5:55am and sunset at 6:02pm. The tide will be high for the departure of both half and full distance MetaMan races.
Sea currents on the race-course will benefit the athletes. The way out and the way back are protected by the bay and therefore are neutral to the currents. However on the long stretch out in the open sea, where the athletes swim East to West, the currents will be supporting them. Ideal for a personal best on your swim time!
